As a fisheries biologist based in Anchorage, Alaska, I am interested in marine ecology, Arctic decision-making, aquatic pollution, and ecological topics of the Arctic, especially as they relate to ecosystem health, climate change, and responsible resource development. I have extensive knowledge of oil spill effects in the marine system, hydrocarbon chemistry, oil spill response measures, and arctic ecology from my academic efforts. My previous work underscores the importance of considering the chronic and delayed effects of low levels of petroleum pollution and the unique life history of high-latitude organisms when assessing the impact of pollutants. Over the last 13 years, I have worked with a variety of projects internationally from salmon in Alaska to ecologically important circumpolar forage fish in the European Arctic. I have led and provided technical expertise and scientific communication deliverables for the oil and gas and mining sector, State agencies and departments, NGOs, Alaska Native Regional Corporations, and universities in Alaska and Europe. I have authored numerous publications for scientific journals and a book chapter; taught university-level courses in biology and toxicology; and presented at over 20 conferences. My work as a postdoctoral fellow in Northern Norway focused on oil spill exposure and climate-driven effects on the physiology of marine fish using experimental methods. Professionally, I now provide guidance and support for fisheries and environmental projects, subject matter expert reports, data analysis, science communication, biological monitoring, and permitting around the State of Alaska. My analytical analysis, ecology, and science communication skills combined with my collaboration ability make me and my newly founded company Fjord & Fish Sciences, an ideal asset to any scientific team.
